INDIA'S VISION AND MISSION

Let me introduce myself. I am an Indian first and an Indian last. My concern about India is as a citizen who wants to keep the moral and ethical values intact and also see the old and the new changes. I am no writer and these thoughts are what I have read about and what I have understood beinbg an Indian. In general I am trying to see what I have seen and write what has already been written. You are free to copy this article and call it your own if you feel thats honesty. Honestry is what I belive in. My blog will keep on changeing as and when I remember something. I may do more changes.
SO HERE I GOThe Indian Vision is most important and who else can describe the vision of India then Rabindranath Tagore who gave India it's National Anthem. He wrote:Where the mind is without fear and the head is held highWhere knowledge is freeWhere the world has not been broken up into fragments By narrow domestic wallsWhere words come out from the depth of truthWhere tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfectionWhere the clear stream of reason has not lost its way Into the dreary desert sand of dead habitWhere the mind is led forward by thee Into ever-widening thought and actionInto that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awakeYes we woke up and since then are leading our country. India 15th August 1947 was a great day and 26th January was a day when we got our constitution. Since then we are trying to find a vision. It's not that india and Indian's did not have a vision. Yes we are a politically motivated country but then some of our leaders had a vision. On Vision I start with Gandhi - Mahatma Gandhi the father of the Nation told Nehru to see that the villages are developed. But then Nehru had a dream of Industrilazation. He thought development means big PSU but did not realize that the growth of these big dreams would be destroyed with its own foolish people working in the Government. He did not realised that his education policy to educate the youth of this country will be snatched away by his own babus. He did not realised that corruption will seek into the bureocracy by making laws for Industries. Twenty Nine laws and departments controlled the Industry. His vision was followed by Lal Bahadur Shastri who ruled for 18 months. Jai Jawan Jai Kisan and he was the arcitect of the Green Revolution, followed by Mrs Gandhi who started with Garibi Hatao but then after India's first Nuculer Explosion she became a durga ma, imposed emergency to get ride of opposition . She did well before she was assinated by her own bodyguard. Was Mrs. Gandhi given a wrong advice by her core group or was she a wrong person for the right Job.India went thru a phase of rediscovery after her and power came and power went till Rajiv Gandhi came into power. He raised some good questions like where is the AID which is given for the welfare of the people going, a question which was raised by Pandit Jawarlal Nehru in 1960's but was forgotten all these years. He learned a lesson from Gandhi and went in for communication and also for Direct Foreign Investments. After his death Atal Bihari Vajpyee become the Prime Minister who saw infrastructure as the main need of the hour. He wanted to bridge gaps between India, and started the road development projects, and dreamed of linking the water resorces which has been the main conflict between the state. He wanted to bridge gaps .... Pakistan .... China ..... America...... well he wanted to be a friend to all these nations. In his time terriorism came down too.Atlast we have Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister who is a great man and an Economist but is hamppered by the communists as his seat depends on their support. He puts ina policy and then goes back. Atlast in these years he has settled on one policy ... Employment Gurantee to the poor people of this Nation an extension of Garibi Hatao.History tells us that Communist have led down this Country. Though I am not against them. In Kerela they are doing fine but then in West Bengal they are unsuccessful. The Communist belt if you see has part of Orrisa, Andhra, Bihar and is the most backward belt but then this is the belt which has Coal, Iron, Jute, etc..... Once upon a time in India this region had so great industries which was shattered by Communist rule. This is the place from where the Britishers came into India and developed it.Someone told me once, and I think I recall the same India has a set of BEMUR state which has Bihar, East Bengal, Madhya Pardesh, UP, Rajastan in it. Since then Rajasthan has come out of the list but the fate of Bihar. Bengal, UP still hangs on.
If you read the Indian Constution in the Premble itself you will find that political freedom without social justice will have no significant to the masses of the country. I am embarasssed that it took us 55 years to iniciate a job gurantee but am happy that atlast this country means business. All these years we were living in a dream world and now we are facing reality. The reality check is at last seen. Why this sudden change took place and why was the politician sleeping and putting money in the swiss bank all these years. Again its a fear of loosing power. Power makes you think.
From Nehru to Indra , 35 years . They were the architect of our very foundation. One was a beliver and the other was a doer. Nehru was adversed in turing his cabinet into a fish market where in Mrs Gandhi had a kitchen cabinet and in about 1979 there was a split in the congress party which gave rise to the slogan Indira is India.
As Ambedkar said " Constitutional morality is not a natural sendiment. It has to be cultivated". Nehru who was part of Indian Independence struggle was a democrat at heart, traditional in liberalism and carried himself with grace and ease. Mrs Gandhi was a self willed leader with exemplary courage and determination, all centered at making hereself the center of Indian politics. Rajiv Gandhi objective was to lead India into the 21st centuary. One he said " thousands wait for decades while an elaborate and archaic machinery grinds even so slowly" Mr. Vajpyee was a seasoned parlimentarian and used his parlimentarian widsom to see India on a growth track. Nehru was right when he said that Atal Bihari Vajpyee shall one day be the PM of India but then he came in too late.
